that's the woolworth building. the former headquarters, or maybe it was just owned by the guy who started the chain of stores called woolworth's. Now the stores are long gone. It was said that the building was made of nickels and dimes, because back in the old days woolworths was a 5 and dime store where everything was only sold for that little.
I believe it was once the tallest building in the world, or it was definitely in the running, the detail on the building is amazing, it's at broadway across from city hall. I once remember going all the way to the top floor and going up a small spiral staircase to a small floor of offices, though that could've been a dream.
